Distinctive Funerals was formed in 2000 by Nick Mastro, Vic Dichiera and their families.Unlike many funeral firms in South Australia, all decisions are made here, by locals caring for locals.

The former Distinctive Chapel was formerly a Ukrainian Church which had been modified to suit religious or non-religious services. A private viewing room and tea and coffee facilities had been installed.

In 2015 a new purpose built facility was constructed due to the Torrens to Torrens South Road upgrade. The new building was officially occupied on August 31st, 2015. A large capacity chapel, dedicated viewing and arranging rooms and spacious lounge are now available. Car parking is now improved with a dedicated car park on the corner of Cator Street and Port Roads, onsite and street parking available.
